I applied for a job at Philmont Scout Ranch for summer 2009 and I was hired! I'm really looking forward to my time out there...I'll be flying out on the 14th of May and flying home on the 11th of Aug. My job title is Wrangler and I'll be expected to take care of the 300 horses on the ranch, among other things. I'll learn how to shoe horses and how to brand cattle. At the beginning of the summer we (the wranglers) have to ride all the horses before the campers get there so that none of the campers are thrown by them. The horses are let out to pasture (basically to fend for themselves) all summer long, so when we round them up at the beginning of the summer, they're basically mustangs. Anyway, I'm SO excited for this opportunity and I can't wait! I also hope that I return in one piece after a rugged New Mexico summer... :P
Well, since the last time I posted I have graduated high school and selected a college. I will be attending Lincoln Memorial University in the fall. I intend to become a licensed Veterinary Technician within two years and then complete pre-vet before the following two years are up (4 years in all). In the mean time I am working about 11-11.5 hours a day four days a week at a local vet clinic. whew! Well, I better cut it short since I need to be at work in approx. 7.5 hours...
well, i have joined facebook in order to keep up with philmont friends. IT REALLY DOES STEAL YOUR TIME! I like it because way more of my friends are part of it, but it becomes so obsessive. Top topics of discussion: 1) My English teacher is CRAZY! 2) Wearing my western hat to school 3) Homework 4) LATE WEDNESDAYS! :D
Well, last week I started back to school for my senior year (wahoo!). I have my favorite art teacher (this is my fourth time to have her if you wanna count driver ed) for ceramics first block. It's my second time to take ceramics (you can take it up to ten times for credit) so I will be getting to use the pottery wheel a lot (I am supposed to throw ten cylinders a day). Second block is English with the same teacher that I had my freshman year. I didn't particularly care for her then, but I think I can deal with her. She talks extremely quietly and never speaks up enough for you to hear her without straining. Third block I am taking Honors Physics. I like the teacher well enough, but I don't know anyone in the class and the whole class in general is pretty rambunctious. Fourth block I am taking Honors PreCalculus AB again because I wanted to feel more competent in the subject before taking AP Calculus next semester (I got a high C in PreCal last year)--I also wanted my GPA to come up some, not to mention that I had a bad teacher. For math this year I get the same teacher I had for Algebra II which wasn't so great, but I much prefer her over the teacher I had for both Honors Geometry and Honors PreCal the first time. This semester may go by slowly, but I don't think that I have any seriously bad teachers or classes.
