  • Philmont and such...

I applied for a job at Philmont Scout Ranch for summer 2009 and I was hired! I'm really looking forward to my time out there...I'll be flying out on the 14th of May and flying home on the 11th of Aug. My job title is Wrangler and I'll be expected to take care of the 300 horses on the ranch, among other things. I'll learn how to shoe horses and how to brand cattle. At the beginning of the summer we (the wranglers) have to ride all the horses before the campers get there so that none of the campers are thrown by them. The horses are let out to pasture (basically to fend for themselves) all summer long, so when we round them up at the beginning of the summer, they're basically mustangs. Anyway, I'm SO excited for this opportunity and I can't wait! I also hope that I return in one piece after a rugged New Mexico summer... :P

That sounds pretty cool! That job sounds perfect for you, considering your interests and your major!

@MelissaHatesScreenames - haha. Yah, it's pretty much a dream job for me. Also, when my dad was in college, he worked out there on the ranch so he's very happy that I decided to apply for the job. Sometimes I think he's more excited about it than I am. He wasn't a wrangler though, he taught rock climbing and did a lot of hiking...(without the horses). lol.

Lol, that's pretty funny. Well, I hope it all goes well and you don't get sunburned too badly...or bitten by snakes.
